KEEPIT KOOL 2013

The Russells win the Keepit Kool Regatta
Ross Wylde-Browne, Wednesday, 12 June 2013

A number of Wangi sailors participated again this year in the annual Keepit Kool Regatta held at Lake Keepit over the June long weekend and run by the Lake Keepit Sailing Club.
Five races were held over the three days, and as usual for this event the winds were very light which meant a lot of concentration was required to do well.
Shane and Kimberley Russell sailing their Nacra 5.8 Mid Life Crisis scooped the pool winning the Multihull Division, Multihull Most Fastest Times and the Overall Regatta Championship, the first time a Multihull has won in over twenty years.
Warwick and Emily Fatches came third in the Dinghy Class in their NS14, and Emily was delighted to pick up the prize on their behalf.
Also representing Wangi in the Dinghies were Ian Smythe sailing with Jed Fatches in an NS14, Mark Horton in a Laser and Matt & Brad Montroy in a Maricat.

A number of other Club members attended the weekend for the social activities which were the usual success story with great food and company.

CLUB PRESENTATION NIGHT 2013

Presentation Night 2013
Ross Wylde-Browne, Monday, 29 April 2013

The theme for Presentation Night 2013 was Cabaret and a lot of members got into the swing of things and came dressed for the occasion while the RSL Auditorium had been well decorated by the Club Social Committee making the transformation to a Cabaret venue..
Our local member Greg Piper attended and assisted with the presentation of trophies and also in attendance was our so called 'Life Honorary Member' Geoff Hunter who also joined in the formalities. Trophies were presented for Dinghies, Yachts and Multihulls in all the 2012-2013 Spring, Summer and Twilight series.
Commodore Les thanked all the Club volunteers for their efforts during the season without whom the Club would not run, and also the numerous sponsors who continue to support our Club.

The Wangi RSL Restaurant did a superb job with the Asian Smorgasbord dinner, and with music provided dancing continued until midnight.
